Dr. Kamel Benaissa, citizen of the world, born in Casablanca – Morocco, grew up and educated in Oran – Algeria and Paris – France, living and private practice in Taipei – Taiwan and also working in Shanghai – China.

After I graduated as a dentist – DDS (diploma of dental surgeon) in 1986, I worked 4 years as a general practician.
I then started my training in functional orthodontics in Paris – France for 5 years in different hospitals. All my studies, trainings and learnings are about Dento Facial Orthopaedics, Paediatric and functional orthodontics.

I’ve pursued my studies in paediatric stomatology at the hospital Robert Debre under Professor Deffez supervision.
I’ve obtained my diploma at Pierre and Marie Curie University – the hospital La Pitié Salpêtrière under Professor Deneuville, where I’ve learned dental facial orthopaedics and functional orthodontics.

More than 20 years in Asia, Taiwan and China.

Founder and Manager of OGH center Ortho Global Health in Taipei – Taiwan.

I learned QiGong, Ying & Yang …

In QiGong, we should breathe through the nose, so the tongue is against the palate and the lips are closed then you can breathe through your nose. This notion has a direct connection with functional orthodontics.

During my 5 years training in Paris, I mostly learned about the functions : mastication, breathing and swallowing, and the concept with removable paediatric orthodontic appliances.

The father of paediatric functional orthodontics is a french, Pierre Robin (1928).

My final master’s degree thesis was in paediatric functional orthodontics, presented in 1994.
